Two Jews Walk into a War

By Seth Rozin
Directed by Gabriel Ross
A Zoom Workshopped Reading
April 10th and 11th @ 7 PM

"Two Jews Walk into a War", by Seth Rozin is inspired by the real life story of the last two Jews living in Afghanistan shortly after the fall of the Taliban. The Zoom production will be presented as a "work in progress" reading.

They have both taken up residency in Kabul's synagogue. And they both hate each other to death. Can this odd couple get it together enough to rebuild a Jewish community in Afghanistan? Or will they kill each other before that Taliban gets to them? With Steve Budd and Abe Bernstein. Directed by Gabriel Ross. Produced by Actors Ensemble of Berkeley.

Streaming on two separate occasions - April 10th and 11th at 7 p.m. PDT (digital house opens @ 6:30 p.m.). Free! (Donations accepted). Registration required, see the ticket link.

Steve Budd is an actor, writer, storyteller, standup comic, and solo performer. He’s acted with many Bay Area theater companies, including San Francisco Playhouse, Central Works, Custom Made, Symmetry, New Conservatory, Impact, and Marin Shakespeare, and has appeared in numerous indies, commercials, and industrials. His award-winning solo show What They Said About Love enjoyed an extended run at The Marsh in Berkeley and San Francisco in 2018 and delighted audiences in Ottawa, L.A., Indianapolis, NYC, Boston, and London.

His new solo show What They Said About Sex has been featured in The Marsh International Solo Fest and Playground SF’s Solo Fest.

ABE BERNSTEIN started acting when he was 60. Since then he has been in seventeen plays, eight staged readings, four solo performances, and four performing troupes. He likes acting because it allows him to do and say things he would never have the nerve to do or say in real life--and blame the playwright!

His favorite roles have been in Dark of the Moon, The Grapes of Wrath, The Fantasticks, and Cabaret. He has been in three staged readings with Actors Ensemble of Berkeley, and he has performed with Oakland’s Stagebridge Playback Theatre Troupe.

Gabriel A. Ross was recently seen with AE in 2019's reading of A Dybbuk as Chonen/The Dybbuk. Prior to that, he played Guildenstern in Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead many years ago. He directed the online workshop of Too Many Crucibles with AE last fall, and a reading of A Man For All Seasons in 2019.

Other recent directing credits include productions of Proof and Greetings! at Pacifica Spindrift and assisting the sold out immersive tour OUT of Site: SoMa. He was a TBA finalist for his role as Jason in Action Hero at The Rhino in 2019. He earned his MFA in Classical Acting from GWU.
