"Tantalization is the root of the power of drama, and Arthur Miller’s classic American play “Death of a Salesman” utilizes this to its greatest effect. The protagonist, Willy Loman, is right in front of us, he is no apparition of the mind or illusion of the screen. He is flesh and blood and if we were to reach out and touch, we could feel him. Thus we feel as if we could help him, but, trapped in our seats, we can’t. In this way, “Death of a Salesman,” perhaps more than any other play, benefits from an intimate theatrical experience." |

"The advantage of a simple set on a small stage enhances the feel of Loman’s sparce home. Set Designer Kirsten Yamaguchi draws the present-time situation toward the stage, and the scenes of the past, off center, closer to the audience. The audience witness the young brother’s happily playing football." |
