AUDITIONS for "Repossessed" by Submission

Actors Ensemble of Berkeley is accepting submissions for a production of Repossessed by Greg Lam (a Bay Area Playwright), directed by Gabriel A. Ross. The story revolves around a couple that have utilized an advanced technology ("LIFE ENHANCED") to implant skills, knowledge, and memories into their brains. However, they also chose to forego the knowledge that they had done this. So, to them, their memories and knowledge seem genuine.

The main thrust of the action is when the couples' financial situation declines, they are unable to continue paying for the upkeep of their identities - so they are forced to have their skills and memories withdrawn!

The production plays July 31st - August 9th at La Val's Subterranean Theater, 1834 Euclid Ave, Berkeley, CA 94709, just north of the U.C. Berkeley campus  and within walking distance of downtown Berkeley BART. Berkeley.  Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 7:30pm, Sundays at 2:00pm.  Rehearsals will also be at La Val's  and begin sometime on or after the week of June 21st.

Callbacks will be Monday April 13, from 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm at PlayGround Playspace, 3286 Adeline St #9, Berkeley, CA 94703.

The characters are as follows.  All descriptions are descriptions of the role, and not necessarily the actor playing the role.  Our auditions are open to all, and we actively embrace non-traditional casting.

Rich: A former CEO and video game designer who has used Life Enhanced but doesn't know it. A recovered alcoholic.

Gretchen/Crystal: Wife of Rich. Born Crystal. Used Life Enhanced but doesn't know it. Has an entirely new identity completely separate from her past before Life Enhanced. The perfect trophy wife.

Regina: CEO of Life Enhanced. Sort of an antagonist. Could be stereotyped as the evil executive but is not that simple.

Ted: Rich's Lawyer who oversaw the processes in which Life Enhanced was used on Rich and Gretchen. Sort of a sleazy douchey guy. But it's more of a persona.

Cindy: Friend of Crystal (now Gretchen) from before her transformation and then again after. Sad to lose her friend but doesn't show it. Also reads some other roles.
1-2 Multiple Roles: 1-2 actors to play multiple roles including waiters, guests, emcee, surgeon, maitre d etc... Can be any gender or adult age (25-65).

All characters are in their 30's or 40's. All roles can be played by people of any ethnicity or background.
