Richard II Staged Reading Rescheduled

Original Date: Wednesday November 7th, 2012
New Date: Sunday, November 18th, 2012

Robert Estes, acclaimed director of "Arcadia" this past January, and upcoming director of our 56th season season opener, "Rock 'n' Roll", directs a staged reading of one of Shakespeare's most under-appreciated history plays, "Richard II", one of a tetralogy dealing with the events leading up to the Hundred Years War, along with the 2 parts of "Henry IV" and "Henry V". In contrast to our main stage production of RICHARD III, "Richard II" is captured and later executed mostly due to his own timidity in contrast to the Machiavellian Bolingbroke.

Full of wonderful dialogue, "Richard II" poses the opposite question from Machiavelli - when can a leader be "too nice"?. Presented as a staged reading one night only, Wednesday, November 7th at 8 p.m. $5-$10 sliding scale. Performed in Berkeley's Live Oak Theatre, 1301 Shattuck Ave (at Berryman), just down the street from Berkeley's Gourmet Ghetto.

Sunday - November 18, 2012 - 8 p.m.
